The subject of this series of drawings was chosen because the ideals of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, the Black Muslims and Black Panthers movements shook America: ‘I could have been there protesting for integration years ago. I wanted to give an identity to those faces I saw in photos from the 1960s.’
